Contest Time: Win A Dream Date With Shmitten Kitten!
By
Anna
You know how Oprah does a show every now and then where she makes someone's dream come true? Well, I'm feeling charitable. I wanna make *some Philly dude's dream come true; I wanna give him his quintessential Philly dream date. To be more specific, I want him to take me on his quintessential Philly dream date. Yup, you and me dating it up like two daters on a date. Not just any date, a dream date.It doesn't have to be this big fancy affair. It can be something as simple as walking around Rittenhouse and grabbing lunch at Reading Terminal Market. Or, it can be tacos at La Lupe then coffee at B2 then drinks at the Pope. Really, anything! As long as it's your dream.
*Attn. potential dream dater: You must be under 5'10. I know it's strange and cruel, but if I'm going with you on this dream date, you have to be under that height to go on this ride. Er, DATE! I mean date. Because it's with me. And, I like shorter guys. And, you have to send me a picture or a link to yer facebook or blog or twitter. I wanna see what I'm workin' with here!
If you throw your hat in the ring, here is what I promise for you as your co-dream dater:
- I will smell good
- I will wear a dress
- I will laugh at 90% of your jokes
- I will match you, drink for drink (five drink maximum)

Contest Time: What Are You Terrible At, Dating-Wise?
By
Anna
So we've established that we're terrible at several aspects of dating. Alright, let's be honest: We're terrible at pretty much every single aspect of it. That's not news. Now, we wanna hear from you, our dear readers. What part of dating are you terrible at? The funniest answer will win a copy of Doofus and Darling's Manners for the Modern Man. It's a hysterical book with pictures of guys doing things the right way and the wrong way. We think you'll like it and we're not just saying that because it's a book about dating with drawn dudes in it--cough, that's our schtick, cough.
Submit your entries to us at hi@shmittenkitten.com with "Dude, I'm TERRIBLE at this dating shit" in the subject line. We'll pick a winner around Friday.

Contest Time: Show Us Your Hidden Talents!
By
Anna
So, we attended our first First Person Arts Story Slam last night. And, we had a blast! What? You've never been to one? For the uninitiated, here's the deal: every Story Slam has a theme and people from the audience throw their name in a bucket if they have a story involving the theme. If their name is picked, they come on stage and tell a 5 minute story about it. People vote on the best story and there is a winner announced at the end.Just between us, the place was crawling with hot dudes who looked like they've completed at least two semesters of their masters degree in some obscure field. Maybe the Story Slam could be the new place to pick up dudes? Watch your back Barnes & Nobles; there's a new, story slammin' sheriff in town.
The next one will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd at the World Cafe Live with DJ Robert Drake hosting the party. The theme is "Hidden Talents." We've got two tickets for the person who writes in to us with the best story involving this theme. Try to keep it short, like under 400 words. If it's funny, we'll publish it here and you'll get a chance to tell it to a roomful of strangers at the Story Slam. Yay!
Submissions are due in to us by Monday, March 2nd by noon. Send 'em in to hi@shmittenkitten.com with the subject line, "Hidden talents." We're excited to see what you guys come up with! If you don't wanna suggest a story, you can reserve your tickets to the event here. Don't sleep on this, Philly! These things usually sell-out so get your seat early.

Throw Your Hat In The Ring: Win A Copy Of Dating Makes You Want to Die (But You Have to Do It Anyway)
By
Anna
We had the opportunity to sit down with the very awesome Ms. Dorothy Robinson last night to talk about her new book, Dating Makes You Want To Die: (But You Have To Do It Anyway). We love the book because it is a very funny, well-written guide to not killing yourself when you are on the dating treadmill. Co-authored with a dude, it gives both perspectives on typical dating issues. It's like having a cool older brother and older sister sit you down to tell it like it is.And, we have two copies of the book to give away to you, our dear readers. Here's the deal: We are going to have Dorothy guest answer two of your "Dear Shmitten Kitten" questions. The two people who submit the best questions for her to answer will win a copy of her book. Capiche? This is your chance to tap into her expertise. Don't sleep on this, America!
We'll pick the winners next week so you have a few days to get it together. Submit your queries to us at hi@shmittenkitten.com with "I Want That Book!" in the title. Help us help you.

...And We Have A Winner!
By
Anna

A huge congrats goes out to Rachel for her awesome idea of sketching The Rittenhouse Lawyer. Her point-by-point description of this douchetard had us in belly laughs. We'll get crackin' on that A.S.A.P. Enjoy your tickets to Popped!
A big thanks to everyone who submitted ideas. A few honorable mentions we received include:
- The Wannabe New Yorker. This would basically be girls who wish our awesome Gayborhood was the West Village and love the fact that Philly is referred to as "the 6th borough." These girls are LAME!
- The Mutter Museum-goer. I would have no idea how to draw this person as I'm not sure what a typical Mutter-goer looks like. I actually go to the Mutter quite frequently, but I'm not sure of the physical characteristics of its attendees. I would most likely have just drawn a nerd with a fetus in a jar behind him.

See you there, suckers!
