Story Time: Has A Missed Connection Ever Worked Out For Anyone In The History of the Universe?

I received my first Missed Connection a few weeks ago. I'll hold for applause.

Here it is:

I vaguely remembered smiling at a short guy when I left the restaurant; this must be him! I couldn't believe that our fleeting encounter had made an impression. I was surprised and flattered, but mostly I was pleased that he spelled the word "you're" correctly. Sure, he said that I wasn't as hot as the peppers at Han Dynasty which doesn't sound like a compliment, but whatever! He used the word "hot" to describe me so I chose to focus on that.

The fact that he felt the need to tell the Internet about seeing me put a pep in my step. I wrote him back, kicked up my heels and waited for my knight in shining armor to arrive via my inbox.

Missed Connections, FUCK YEAH!
But, to my horror, he never replied to my email answering his Missed Connection. I re-read what I wrote him at least four times. Was I inappropriate? Did he find my now-defunct Friendster account when he Googled my name? WHAT IS THE POINT OF A MISSED CONNECTION IF WE DON'T CONNECT? And what's the etiquette here? Do I write a MC for the guy who never answered mine? Do we clog up Craigslist because of our inability to send emails properly like educated adults?

I was distraught. I made all of my face muscles make a frown then I distracted myself with episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? After watching celebrities trace their ancestral roots, I forgot about my missed MC and resumed my life. But when a friend asked me a few days later what had happened with my potential MC Romeo, the feelings of rejection came flooding back. I almost cried. I definitely scrunched up my face in aggravation.

Maybe in the one day it took for me to respond to him, he found the love of his life at another Chinese restaurant and moved on. Maybe he took one of those peppers out on a date and thought that she was indeed hotter than me. I suppose I'll never know.

Question: have any of you found love through a Missed Connection? Is it even possible? Has anything ever good come from it? Kindly tell me in the comments.

I got a date out of one once, but she wasn't into me it seems. I was the connection-poster. I've been posted about a few times, but always while I had a girlfriend.

I posted a MC about a Jesse McCartney look-a-like last summer. Some mutual friends ended up facilitating the whole thing. He was sweet but I was looking for a summer fling and he was asking for long-distance after two dates. Not really my style. Also, with only a month in town, I didn't really feel like putting in the effort to teach him how to properly kiss a girl.

**This was a lot less bitchy sounding when I typed it out the first time. But it was a lot longer and blogger decided not to let it go through so I'm a little frustrated haha.

I've literally had this happen to me 3 times. I'm convinced I will find my soulmate through MC and check every day. I won't give up.

I'm only 95% kidding.

But I've really been a MC multiple times (beyond the shadow of a doubt) and had the poster ignore my email.

Alright, that makes me feel a bit better.

A friend of mine is currently dating her "missed connection" of a few months ago and they're very happy together!

We don't have missed connections in Ireland. We have Guinness and, eh, more Guinness and a terrible thing called Mickey Finns, and when we've made our way through all of those we don't even know what the internet is any more. (I love a stereotype.)

Missed connections sounds like fun though, especially because alcohol rarely results in love connections either.

I posted an MC once. She kissed me under mistletoe while she was doing santa con. she responded and we had something like 3 dates out of it. Some nice kissing but it seems me being younger and newly arrived in brooklyn with no job scared her off. That and she wanted something serious and wasn't down to just make out and fool around.
unforutnately I think some people just want to see if it will work but don't take the idea of it seriously.

What I want to know is this: how did you even think to check the Missed Connections section of Craigslist in the first place? Is this something you do often? Not that there's anything wrong with it - It's just that I would have never thought to even look there (I guess I will never know what I'm missing out on!)

Good question! I never look at the Missed Connections. A friend spotted it and sent me the link.

Suuuuureeee... a "friend" spotted it... ;)

Her tweets are locked so I took a screenshot. See?

The same thing happened to me. A friend spotted a Missed Connection posted about me, talked me into responding to it, and I never heard back. I chalk it up to typical pussy-baby Philly dudes...all talk, no walk. THERE, I SAID IT.

I was totally joking. But now you've just outed your friend. Quick! Everyone post a missed connection for @LunaTechie!

Linzy rules and I'm sure she'd get a kick out of it!

I posted a MC about a cute guy I met at the supermarket once, and we actually e-mailed back and forth a few times, but then he just stopped responding. He said he always wanted to be a "missed connection" but then I never heard back from him so I guess that's all he really wanted? Whatevs, dudes be flakin' all the time. It's their loss, right?

The weird thing about it is if he knew it was me, he could've contacted me through the site. INSTEAD, he decided to post on Craigslist about it then ignore me when I answered him. STRANGE!

I know someone that reads MC daily.... not necessarily for her MC, but just to read them, because they're sometimes really really funny.

If I ever see you in a Chinese restaurant, I'll be all like, "Oh, hey, can I get your number?" I would totally coax it out of you. Then I'd go to the shoe store and buy a sexy pair of pumps. And then I'd go to the pet store and buy a snake. Maybe a ball python...who knows? THEN I'd text you a pic of a snake in a high heel shoe...and I'd be in there like swimwear.

Weenus, that is HILARIOUS!

I had the same exact thing happen to me! My friend sent me a link to a dude that said some really sweet things, it was 110% about me, I finally got enough courage to write him back and then he never replied! Hmmmpph. I still read the MCs everytime I end up on craigslist though, they're hilarious.
