Come Hear Us Talk About Love, Love

The folks at the Social Media Club of Philly have asked me to lead a panel about digital love. It's all going down on Wednesday, Feb. 24th from 6pm-8pm at Jolly's Dueling Piano Bar, which is on 20th and Chestnut. This place has the word "jolly" in the name. How can it not be a good time?

I know what you're thinking: "Digital Love? What's that? Like robots hooking up?" No, I won't be talking about robots hooking up. However, I will be talking about:
  • why we decided to blog about dating
  • how we built an audience/following
  • the stories. oh my, the stories.
  • the process of monetizing the site
  • safety tips of using social media when you're dating
Have you ever seen me speak publicly? I talk like this:

Now is your chance to ask me anything you want! I'll be a Formspring come to life. Fire away with your toughest questions. Hit me with your best shot. Everyone is invited and it's FREE! Grab a ticket here. Hurry up, because we expect it to sell out. Well, even though it's free. Can free stuff sell out? Is that possible? What is in this brownie? Why do we drive in a parkway and park in a driveway? I could really go for a pint of Phish Food right about now. These colors are delicious.

Just come!

Alas, I'll be meeting with my book club (I'm a nerd), and won't be able to make it. Good luck!

'digital love' has to be among the creepiest ways to phrase that 21st century phenomenon.

Gutted - live in England, but I'd love to go to that!

Oo, thought: Come to London. Do a talk. Write a piece about the boner-killer that is British guys' fashion in the summer. Okay, great!

Huzzah!!! Panel discussions are my all-time favorite form of public engagement with mass media insiders. (Honestly...no matter how sarcastic that sounds.)

Those ridiculously tall director's chairs that are commonly used for this sort of event seem to loosen everyone's tongue, causing even the most tight-lipped professionals to spill tons of useful dope and salacious tidbits.

I'm looking forward to witnessing the Kitten-in-Chief and her co-panelists arrayed before us like silver-glittered super-rockers from KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. Who will be the one to shoot starlight from her right eye to control our minds?

Of course, a more subdued presentation will be just as enjoyable. And, yes, these strange-looking brownies are awesome! Sure could go for a scrambled egg omelet right about now!

Yes, if I can figure out how to print my PDF ticket using an old printer that's incompatible with a new(ish) laptop, then I'll be sitting in the front row. I hope the book-signing line won't be too long and you'll be able to chat with your devotees and admirers!
